Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met and assisted by a representative from Parikrama Treks. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel. A short briefing about the upcoming Mani Rimdu festival trek will be provided.
Early in the morning, you will depart from Kathmandu airport. Upon arrival at Phaplu, take the opportunity to explore Sherpa traditional homes, hospitals, and schools in the village. You will meet with our team to start Mani Rimdu Festival Trek.
Commence the hike to Junbesi (2600 meters) early in the morning. Junbesi is a cultural hub of traditional Sherpa life, and the hike takes approximately 5 hours.
Experience the morning chants of the monks. After breakfast, embark on a tour of the Thupten Choling Monastery (2800 meters). Explore the monastery and engage in meditation with the nuns.
After breakfast, head towards Phurteng. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Everest and Thamserku. The hike to Phurteng takes approximately 3 hours.
Follow the ancient Solu region monastery route, the initial path to Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching Chiwong Monastery, check into a lodge and visit the monastery.
Experience the first day of Mani Rimdu at Chiwong Monastery. Attend the monastery rituals and witness the monks performing the puja.
On the second day, known as Mask Dancing day, attend the monastery events or opt for an optional hike if preferred.
Witness the final day of the festival. Attend the Fire initiation rituals performed by the monks.
We are almost at the end of our Mani Rimdu Festival Trek. After an early breakfast, pack your belongings and embark on a 4-hour hike to Phaplu.
Return to Kathmandu via a flight from Phaplu. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Enjoy a day at leisure for shopping, roaming the city, or opt for guided sightseeing.
