Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by a Parikrama Treks representative who will assist you with the transfer to your hotel. A short briefing about Lower Dolpo Kagmara pass trekking at the evening.

Day 02: Flight to Nepalgunj – 1-hour flight

After a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic one-hour flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj.

Day 02: Flight to Jumla (2370m). Trek to Gothi Chaur (2700m)

Early in the morning, board a flight from Nepalgunj to Jumla. Meet with all the Lower Dolpo Kagmara pass trekking crew. The trail winds through picturesque villages, descending to the enchanting Gothi Chaur where you will spend the night.

Day 03: Trek Gothi Chaur to Naphukana (3080m)

Traverse through fields of corn, potato, buckwheat, and barley along the Tila Khola. Enter a lush forest of oaks, spruce, and maples, and reach the charming village of Naphukana, crowned by a majestic Gompa.

Day 04: Trek Naphukana to Chaurikot (3060m)

The trail steepens today, ascending through a forest to the Mauri Lagna pass (3820m). Enter the Bheri Valley and arrive at the picturesque village of Chaurikot.

Day 05: Trek Chaurikot to Bheri Riverside (2610m)

Journey to the village of Balasa for stunning views of Kagmara peak. Pass through apple orchards in Jyakot and descend to the village of Rimi. Continue on a rocky trail to the serene Bheri Riverside.

Day 06: Trek Bheri Riverside to Garpung Khola (2900m)

Continue along the west bank of the Bheri River, passing through Hurikot. After a 900m descent, reach the pastures of the Pungmo Khola Valley, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 07: Trek Garpung Khola to Kagmara (3500m)

Embark on a short trek, following the Garpung Khola and ascending toward Kagmara.

Day 08: Trek Kagmara to Kagmara Phedi (4000m)

Cross to the eastern side of the river, navigating a narrow valley with waterfalls. Enjoy magnificent views of surrounding peaks from Kagmara Phedi.

Day 09: Cross Kagmara La and trek to Pungmo Khola (5115m)

Begin early, ascending alongside Kagmara Glacier to Kagmara La. Descend to the pastures of Pungmo Khola Valley for a well-deserved night’s rest.

Day 10: Trek Pungmo Khola to Pungmo

Enter birch and juniper forests, with breathtaking views of Kanjirolba peak as you descend.

Day 11: Trek Pungmo to Phoksundo Lake

Continue downstream to Phoksundo Lake, renowned for its unusual greenish-blue water. Explore Buddhist paintings and statues, providing insights into the ancient Bon-Po religion.

Day 12: Rest day at Phoksundo Lake

Day 13: Trek Phoksundo Lake to Baga La Phedi

Retrace your steps to Ringmo, then follow a trail eastwards to the base of Baga La.

Day 14: Cross Baga La (5090m) & trek to Numa La Phedi (4800m)

Embark on a challenging ascent to the Baga La Pass, followed by a descent to Dajok Tang.

Day 15: Cross Numa La (5360m) & trek to Do (4100m)

Conquer the Numa La pass, descending to the Tarap region through barley fields, reaching the settlement of Do.

Day 16: Rest day at Do

Take a day off for acclimatization, exploring the Ri Bhunpa Gompa on the ridge above the village.

Day 17: Trek Do to Lahini (3560m)

Enter a gorge adorned with rose shrubs and wildflowers. Cross the river multiple times before reaching the flat expanse of Lahini.

Day 18: Trek Lahini to Tarakot (2600m)

Follow the southern bank of the Bheri River, passing through the vibrant terraced fields of Tarakot.

Day 19: Trek Tarakot to Dunai (2100m)

Continue alongside the Barbung Khola, crossing to the north bank before reaching Dunai for the night.

Day 20: Trek Dunai to Juphal (2500m)

Follow the river trail downstream to Juphal, concluding the trek with scenic views.

Day 21: Flight to Juphal/Nepalgunj/Kathmandu

We say good bye to all of our Lower Dolpo Kagmara pass trekking crew. Take an early morning flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj, connecting to a flight back to Kathmandu.
