The plains in the southern part of the country contain an amazing variety of flora and fauna. The National Parks and Wildlife Reserves are regenerated habitats for many endangered wildlife like rhinos, tigers, wild elephant, and bison amongst many others. They are the largest and most undisturbed wilderness in the Terai region. Home to black buck, swamp deer and endangered aquatic animals like Gangetic dolphins, Gharial crocodiles, Bengal Florican, Lesser Florican, Silver-eared Mesia and Sarus Crane. The Royal Chitwan National Park and the Royal Bardia National Park are accessible by plane or overland drive.
